Impact means business – BIG business with major investment in heavy trucks
Impact Handling has reinforced its commitment to the heavy lift truck market with a large investment in new Konecranes stock. It means customers will enjoy much faster access to these premium machines and their impressive capabilities.
Andy Armitage, Impact’s Sales Manager for Heavy Equipment, explains: “In the past, lead times for Konecranes orders were very long – sometimes up to two years. Now we have stock ready for quick delivery to buy or hire.”
Impact’s latest expansion in the heavy truck supply sector has seen over two million pounds spent on Konecranes products. They include 16 tonne and 33 tonne forklifts as well as 46 tonne (1st row) reach stackers. In addition, Impact has grown its stock of large MOL terminal tractors. For customers in the distribution and warehousing sector, their specification has been revised by Impact to minimise the need for local modifications. They are offered with a short lead time and at a competitive price. Along with these, Impact has Carer heavy electric forklift trucks in capacities between 8 and 16 tonnes.
Advanced and efficient technology
Impact is especially keen to highlight the efficiency advantages of its Konecranes SMV 4638 TC5 reach stackers, which benefit from the Swedish manufacturer’s ‘Ecolifting’ development programme. They feature the Flow Drive driveline system, which not only cuts fuel consumption but enhances performance, gives a smooth, quiet driving experience, and reduces wear.
“Customers are welcome to take one on short-term hire to compare with their existing trucks,” says Andy Armitage. “Using Konecranes’ Truconnect telematics, you can see just how efficient these reach stackers are. Fuel savings of up to 25% have been recorded. What’s more, the trucks can run on HVO renewable fuel. All in all, they make it easier and more affordable to move toward net zero. And now there’s no need to wait, as we have heavy trucks ready to deliver.”
Konecranes reach stackers and forklifts are typically seen handling containers, but their versatility extends to many other heavy-duty applications. As well as docks, ports, rail hubs and airports, they can be found in harsh environments such as steel, concrete, pulp and paper works. They are also widely used at recycling centres and in factories making, for instance, cars and trucks, mobile homes and renewable energy equipment.

Richard Root, Impact’s National Sales Manager, adds: “We have been supplying heavy trucks to workplaces like these for many years.
